The
Maple Leafs are finished taking resumes for the job of general manager,
thank you. Richard Peddie, president of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment
Ltd., said yesterday the club has received resumes from such people as
students and a postman.
"We have been getting resumes from people you would not
expect," Peddie said.
"We will respond to all of them."
Peddie refused to discuss potential candidates, but interviews
will begin next week. It's safe to say neither the students nor mail carrier
will be getting a job at Bay and Front.
Among those who could be on the final list are Steve Tambellini,
John Ferguson Jr., Lanny McDonald, Neil Smith, Glenn Healy, Mike Murphy
and Colin Campbell. It's known the Leafs earlier received permission to
interview Tambellini and Ferguson Jr.
Meanwhile,
negotiations on contracts for defencemen Bryan McCabe and Karel Pilar and
centre Nik Antropov likely will pick up steam next week, when assistant
GM Mike Penny returns from a week of vacation. |
