The
Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday (July 24, 2003) that the club
has signed forward Harold Druken to a one year contract. In keeping with
club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Druken, 24, collected five points (one goal, four assists)
with four penalty minutes in 22 NHL games this past season. He started
the year with Vancouver and collected two points (one goal, one assist)
in three games. Druken was acquired by Carolina along with Jan Hlavac from
Vancouver in exchange for Darren Langdon and Marek Malik on November 1,
2002. He appeared in 10 games for the Hurricanes and registered one assist
with two penalty minutes before being claimed off waivers by Toronto on
December 11, 2002. In five games with the Maple Leafs, Druken registered
two assists with two penalty minutes. He was subsequently re-claimed by
Carolina January 17, 2003 and was pointless in four games. He also appeared
in 30 AHL games with Lowell and St. John's collecting 21 points (eight
goals, 13 assists) with 10 penalty minutes. Druken was re-acquired by Toronto
from Carolina in exchange for Allan Rourke on May 29, 2003.
The native of St. John's, Newfoundland has played 137
career NHL games collecting 59 points (27 goals, 32 assists) with 34 penalty
minutes. His best season came during the 2000-01 campaign when he registered
30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 55 games with Vancouver. He was originally
Vancouver's third choice, 36th overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft.
The
Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday (July 28, 2003) that they have
re-signed unrestricted free agent centre Josh Holden to a one-year contract.
In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Holden, 25, played the majority of last season with the
American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs, posting totals of 53 points
on 24 goals and 29 assists in 65 games.
He was recalled to Toronto on two occasions, appearing
in five games and scored in his Maple Leaf debut November 8 at Dallas.
The Calgary native has played a total of 54 NHL games for Vancouver, Carolina
and Toronto and has recorded five goals and nine assists for 14 points
in parts of five NHL seasons.
Holden was acquired by the Maple Leafs from Vancouver
in exchange for Jeff Farkas June 23, 2002. He was originally Vancouver's
first choice, 12th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. |
